A Sierra Media Original YouTube channel
Stories of culture, craft, and music- from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

NWL is a collection of stories about people, places, music, culture, and adventure—born in the Pacific Northwest, but never particularly good at staying there.
Over the years, we’ve filmed musicians and makers, artists and craftspeople, surfers, sailors, hot rods, breweries, woodworkers, and plenty of things that don’t fit neatly into a category. We’ve traveled throughout the Northwest and farther afield whenever an interesting story gave us a reason to go.
Some are documentaries. Some are performances. Some are adventures. And some started simply because we met somebody interesting and decided to point a camera at them.
That’s pretty much the idea.
About NWL
NWL began as Northwest Live, a passion project from filmmaker Daniel A. Cárdenas and Sierra Media—a place to make the kinds of stories that didn’t necessarily belong anywhere else.
There’s never been much of a master plan, and we’re okay with that.
From live-edge woodworkers and working musicians to surfing the Pacific Coast, boats, beer, cars, culture and the occasional road trip, NWL follows our curiosity wherever it leads.
The Pacific Northwest is home. But the story can be anywhere.
Produced by Sierra Media, an independent production company based in the Pacific Northwest. NWL is produced under the same roof that launched Bakerbuilt Works, NWL reflects the same craftsmanship behind our feature documentaries —

With over 20 years of production experience, we bring the same dedication to visual storytelling, whether it’s for a brand, a cultural story, or an independent film.
NWL has become a proving ground for creative exploration — blending music, craft, and adventure with environmental and cultural narratives. It’s where we test new ideas, collaborate with musicians and makers, and continue pushing our visual storytelling into fresh territory.
